Bearing a Burden began as a bold exploration into our standard struggles and is transforming through our podcast into the challenges shaping modern life.
Bearing a Burden tackles both internal and external burdens, the ones placed on us by flawed systems and societal expectations and is committed to confronting hard truths without losing hope.
It didn’t stop there.
As the series unfolded, so did a more personal story, the one that ultimately gave rise to Queen of Hearts: Born a Lemon & If I Walked Away... Where Bearing a Burden challenges ourselves and the world around us, they turn inward, offering a deeply personal look at health, identity, family, and the quiet strength of perseverance.
Though distinct, both project avenues are tied by a single thread:
Courage isn’t the absence of hardship, it’s the choice to carry on regardless.
Together, they offer a fuller, more honest picture of what it means to bear the weight of life, and to rise anyway.
What drives the mission...
At its core, Bearing a Burden is driven by a simple but powerful belief:
Hard conversations are where healing begins.
We live in strange and busy times. Behind every issue, whether it’s a broken policy or a broken heart, is a human story. The mission of Bearing a Burden is to create space for healing. To ask better questions. To challenge systems that don’t serve us, and to remind people that they are not alone in their struggle.

This is more than content.
It’s a call to carry what matters, together.
My name is Nova James. I am a writer, podcaster, mother, wife, and advocate for peace, balance, and personal responsibility.
I believe real strength isn’t found in domination or chasing perfection. It’s found in discipline, in the ability to listen before reacting, to stand firm without losing compassion, and to seek understanding even when it’s hard.
I’m not here to preach from a mountaintop. I’m walking this path too, carrying burdens just like you, searching for better answers in a world too often driven by division.
My mission is simple:
To help us find our way back to what matters most: truth, connection, and the quiet, stubborn hope that we can build something better, together.
