The Bearing A Burden Series primarily explores external challenges within our systems.
Queen of Hearts explores the internal weight we carry through health battles, identity, family, advocacy, and emotional strength.
Two sides of the same mission... both considerable burdens we carry.

As Bearing a Burden unfolded, so did a more personal story, one that ultimately gave rise to Queen of Hearts. Where Bearing a Burden explores the challenges of the world around us, Queen of Hearts turns inward, reflecting on the battles we fight within ourselves. Both projects share a common thread: the belief that courage isn’t the absence of hardship, but the choice to carry on with grace, grit, and heart. Together, they paint a fuller picture of what it truly means to bear the burdens life places on our shoulders, and to rise anyway.
I began writing Queen of Hearts nearly 24 years ago, scribbling moments down little by little. It’s a deeply personal story, filled with highs and lows, grief and resilience, but most of all, an unwavering refusal to give up. It finally came time to pull all the pieces together into one story.
A glimpse into the moment I stopped surviving and started reigning, the birth of the Queen of Hearts.
A powerful exploration of the Second Amendment, advocating for unity and constitutional freedom in a divided society.
We live in a time where controversy seems to be the currency of conversation. People disagree not because they truly hold opposing views, but because they feel compelled to take a side, any side, simply for the sake of argument. Discourse has become a battlefield, where winning is prioritized over understanding. It’s disheartening.
When did we stop listening?
When did we decide that being right was more important than being united?
The truth is, most of us want the same things: security, freedom, and the ability to live our lives without unnecessary interference. Instead of acknowledging those shared desires, we fixate on the differences in how we express them. This book is an attempt to build a few bridges and shed light on the long-misunderstood firearms industry.
In Bearing a Burden: The Challenges Surrounding the Education System, author and mother Nova James pulls back the curtain on a system that’s quietly failing the very people it’s meant to serve. With a blend of personal stories, classroom insights, and bold, practical ideas, this book asks the hard questions, then dares to offer hopeful answers.
Why are students bored and teachers burnt out? How did curiosity get replaced with compliance? Most importantly, what can we do, right now, to shift the system two degrees at a time?
This isn’t about blame. It’s about balance.
It’s not about revolution. It’s about reconnection.
It’s not about having all the answers, just the courage to ask better questions.
Whether you're a parent, educator, or simply someone who believes in the power of learning, this book will challenge you to think deeper, lead braver, and reimagine what education could be... if we have the will to rebuild it, together.
